Pfc. Angona Is Killed in Korean War
PFC LAWRENCE V. ANGONA, 20, of the infantry was killed in action in Korea Sept. 13, according to a Department of Defense telegram received by his father, Benjamin Angona, 303 Van Buren st. Angona, who attended Central High School and was employed by Dey Bros. & Co. enlisted for three years in April, 1948. Surviving are his father, two sisters, Miss Rosemary Angona and Mrs. Roger Lindsey; four brothers, Donald, Frank, Arthur and Benjamin, Jr. two nephews and a niece. THE BODY of Pfc. Vito L. Angona, 20, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Angona of 303 Van Buren st., will arrive in the United States this week aboard the Lawrence Victory. The ship is carring 374 American war dead for Korea and will dock at San Francisco. Angona was killed in action on Sept. 13 in Korea. He had been in the Army for three years and had been stationed in Japan before entering Korea. Prior to enlistment, he was an employe of Dey Brothers' department store. He attended Central High School and was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Angona's parents died last year. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Roger Lindsey and Miss Rosemary Angona of Syracuse; four brothers, Benjamin, Jr., Donald and Frank of Syracuse, and Arthur of St. Louis.
