Amelia F. Tinsley

Amelia F. Tinsley, age 75, of Armuchee, died Monday evening, Sept. 20, 2004, at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law on the Warren Road surrounded by her family.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Tinsley was born April 13, 1929, the daughter of the late Jeff F. and Hazel Beatrice Branton Freeman. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tinsley was of the Baptist faith and attended the Armuchee Church of God. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Mathis, and two brothers,
Clinton and Jeff Freeman. Mrs. Tinsley was married on Sept. 11, 1947, to Arthur Harrison "Harry" Tinsley who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Ray Stepp of Armuchee and Sondra and Tommy Early of Rome, five grandchildren, Lisa Goss, Rodney Stepp, Scott Early, Cynthia Stepp and Jared Stepp; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brooklyn and Julianna Stepp, Hannah and Grayson Goss; one sister, Bettie Ann Barrett of Rome, two brothers, Douglas and Hugh Freeman both of Rome. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tinsley will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Izell officiating with interment to follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The following will serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 1:30 p.m.: Jared Stepp, Rodney Stepp, Andy Goss, Bill Barnes, Don Hester and Clyde Allen.

Mrs. Tinsley will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and at other hours the family will be at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Ray Stepp, 801 Warren Road, Rome.
