John J. Webb was a son of Robert and Elizabeth (Nester) Webb, and was probably born in what is now Carroll County VA. He was married to Sarah Ann Combs, and they had four children, William, Frances, Mahala and Rebecca. He served in Co. I, 13th VA Infantry, and was taken prisoner. He died at Camp Chase of typhoid.
