Mr. Samuel Mills Fisher, one of the well known and respected citizens of Warsaw, died October 2, 1923 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Bump of Hawthorne, N.J. Mr. Fisher was nearly 85, and was born in Warsaw on October 20, 1838, son of Samuel and Caroline Fisher, and had lived in Warsaw all of his life, excepting for the last few years, when he spent the winters with his daughter, coming back to his old home for the summers. He was a member of the 1st NY Dragoons, Company D., and served 3 years in the Civil War. In his early boyhood he joined the Presbyterian church of Warsaw, and was always a faithful and interested member, being keenly alive to his duties as a ruling elder, which office he filled acceptably for many years as his father had before him. On March 22, 1871, he married Miss Elizabeth Lord, who died 12/14/1915. They always made their home on their pleasant farm on the West Hill. A daughter, Mrs. Bump, a son Addison W. Fisher of Warsaw and 3 grandchildren survive. An only brother, Frank Miller Fisher died just a week before.
****NOTE: Year of death for his wife Elizabeth reads 1915 however on the stone reads 1916.
