Eva was a happy child. She ran wherever she went. She got the nickname of "Spin" which was later shortened to "Pin". She was known by that nickname the rest of her life.

Her father, Brigham Davies, had five children (Mary Ellen, Primrose, Josephine, Bertha and Ethel)from his first marriage to Primrose Lee. Primrose died in 1890. On June 30, 1891 Brigham married his widowed cousin, Elizabeth Griffith. She had two sons (William Jr. & Joseph Turner) from her previous marriage. This new marriage added five additional children to the family (Gilbert, Margaret, Blanche, Eva "Pin" and Brigham Dewey).

Being raised in a large family, there was plenty of work around the home and farm that Pin help with. She would help her father and brothers in harvesting hay and beets. She was even harvesting beets up to the day before her wedding. Her hands looked so bad from harvesting beets that she was embarrassed by them on her wedding day.

She married Lawrence McKinney Hogan on June 26, 1919 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They met in 1915 just before Lawrence was called to serve in the Army during WWI. They courted by letters and it became an understanding that they would marry upon his return.

The first years of marriage were difficult financially because of very limited employment opportunities or rail road strikes that effected Lawrence's employment. He also experienced prolonged health problems due to being exposed to mustard gas during the war.

They had a small five-room home in Salt Lake, but it was always a place where family members were welcomed. They had five children (Glenna Pauline, Junior Lawrence, Marvin Davies, Rulon LaMar and Kathleen.)

On June 26, 1979 Eva and Lawrence celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Eva died six months later.
