***** OBITUARY *****
Mrs. John Cooper Dead
Mrs. John Cooper died very suddenly Monday afternoon about four o'clock in a hospital at Clarinda. She had been taken there a week before for treatment for blood poisoning and apparently had entirely recovered from that ailment. She was to take the afternoon train for home and had been taken downstairs where she was preparing to leave when she was taken with convulsions and passed away in a very short time. Her death was a great shock to her family and large circle of friends. This is the second death in her family within a month, her brother Oliver Jones, having passed away in December last. Mrs. Cooper will be greatly missed from the family circle by her host of friends and in the community where she lived, as she was always ready and willing to extend a helping hand to those in distress. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock in the M. E. church here, conducted by Rev. Menoher of Villisca and interment was in Memory cemetery.
Jennie Rebecca Jones was born at Allerotn, Iowa, Feb 18, 1878, and died at Kennelsworth hospital, Clarinda, Ia., 4 p.m. January 13, aged 40 years, 10 months and 25 days. At the age of 15 she moved with her parents to this vicinity and has lived here the remainder of her life. She was married to John P. Cooper November 6, 1901. To this union three sons were born, Vern, Harold and Darold, besides these children she was Mother to the two boys already in the home which she reared to manhood. Lori and Gail feel they have suffered a great loss. In their words, "She was a true mother". Truly it can be said of her, "She hath done what she could." Her children rise up and call her blessed.
Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss a father, mother, four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Knapp, Mrs. Rhoda O'Dell, Mrs. Clara Baker, Mrs. Lola Luellen; Seven brothers, Frank, Tom, Newt, Bert, Alva, Wilbur and Ray, also a step daughter, Mrs. Mable Greenway, a host of relatives and friends. One brother Oliver preceded her in death about four weeks ago. She was united with the Methodist church at Pleasant Ridge at the age of eighteen and has been a faithful and consistent christian to the last.
