North Carolina, USA
|Death: ||Aug. 8, 1826|
Married in Rowan Co. NC on 3 Jan 1774 to William Mackey, Mary and William moved their family to SC where they eventually owned over 1000 acres on the border of the Cherokee Nation. Polly birthed and raised 10 known children to adulthood.
William served in the Revolutionary War but we don't know where he enlisted nor what dates he served.
Leaving SC with her husband and extended family by 1789, Polly faced the rigors of a shifting pioneer life in KY and TN.
In early 1810 the family purchased land and moved to Warren Co. TN. She and William were buried on their family farm 5 miles from McMinnville, TN.
A list of her children appears in her husband's site.
Additional information and corrections are welcome.
NOTE: The family name appears in 1700's records as MACKEY. Later documents spell it McKee and McKey. Gravestones read McKEY.
