John Gamble

John Gamble, age 57, of Shelton, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center, Shelton. He was the devoted husband of Carol Cribbins Gamble. Mr. Gamble was born in Derby on March 18, 1947, son of the late George and Dorothea Donovan Gamble, and was a lifelong resident of Shelton.

John was an insurance agent and the corporate secretary of Wm. C. Atwater Insurance Agency of Derby. He was the past captain and member of the Echo Hose Hook & Ladder, a member of the Echo Hose Ambulance Corps, Derby Recreation Camp, a corporator of Griffin Hospital and a former fire marshal for the City of Shelton.

He was the beloved father of Christine and Allison Gamble; cherished grandfather of Andrianna Corbett; and brother of George Gamble. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. His funeral will leave the funeral home on Friday at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial will follow Mount St. Peter Cemetery.
