Attempts Suicide With Razor

West Point, Miss., April 19 -- Failure if her sweetheart to meet and marry her after she had made a trip to Okolona, where the wedding was to have taken place, is said to have prompted Miss Olivia Wiley, aged 21, clerk in the Hibler 5 and 10 cent store here, to attempt suicide. The girl is reported in a critical condition at her home with a three-inch gash in her throat inflicted with a safety razor blade, and physicians have but little hope for her recovery.

According to information received Miss Wiley left West Point on an evening train to meet her intended husband at Okolona where they would be married. When she arrived there she found herself alone and spent several hours looking about for her fiance.

When he failed to put in an appearance she became dejected and boarded the late train for home. She arrived about midnight, stopped at a downtown hotel, and about 9 o'clock in the morning returned to her home. She obtained the razor blade and retiring to her room slashed her throat.
