Bailey was one of 6 known children of James & Alice Forbes. He was born between 1696 and 1701 in Accomack County, VA. He died between 7 Mar 1771 and 4 Feb 1772.
In 1701 his parent brought Bailey and his 5 siblings to what was then Pasquotank County, NC, (now known as Camden County). The family landed just north of Pond & S Sandy Hook Roads in present day Riddle, NC. His father James received 526 acres of headright land which was late divided up amongst the 5 boys. Bailey received 100 acres which were call Great Neck and Little Neck. In 2001 this land had changed little.
Bailey married Elizabeth Bray the daughter of Henry & Dinah Bray. The couple made their home on the 100 acres given Bailey by his father.
The couple had 6 known children:
1. Capt. John Forbes, 1737-1781, m. Rebecca Williams, 1 son
2. Bailey (Bale) Forbes, 1740-aft 1797, m. Miriam Smithson, 1 son

Records show that Bailey was in the militia in 1755. Land and tax records show that he owned additional parcels of land in North Carolina. Bailey and Elizabeth lived in Camden County until they died.
Bailey was undoubtedly buried in the original Forbes family cemetery in Camden County which is just across the road from James & Alice Forbes' memorial. In 2001 on the original homestead land of James & Alice many unmarked graves could still be seen. The local grave marker used at that time were wooden and they did not last long.
