Funeral notes by Pastor Daniel Shindler of the Hollidaysburg Lutheran Church:
"Christian G. Kooper was a dear young man wounded in the service of his country in the Shenandoah Valley, and died in the hospital at Cumberland, Md. He was an exemplary and active member of the church. We mourn his loss. He died in the triumphs of the gospel. He was a christian patriot - willing to lay down his life for his country - to die for her sins that God's wrath might be turned away - that our great sins, human slavery, might be forgiven. Only the good may make atonement. His funeral was preached to a very large audience from the 3rd chapter of James - first part of the 17th verse. That solemn and tearful day will be long remembered."
