This Hopkins line arrived from England in 1634, landing in MA, and quickly removed to RI to escape the religious intolerance of their faith. They then migrated to the Oyster Bay area of Long Island, Queens Co. (now Nassau Co.), NY, and eventually migrated west through several NY counties.
Quakers and early abolitionists, this Hopkins line includes RI Gov. Stephen Hopkins 1707-1785, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
