William M.(7) Hopkins(1760-1841) & Elizabeth Downing(1760-1850) of Oyster Bay were married June 20, 1779 in St. George's Church, Hempstead, Queens Co., Long Island, NY. They settled on a farm near Glen Cove off Cedar Swamp Rd. Their son Silas(8) Hopkins sold the farm to William Hall in 1867, but retained a right of way and burial rights to the Hopkins Family Plot. The graves of these Hopkins and some of their freed slaves were located on the crest of a hill off Cedar Swamp Rd. and High Farms Rd.

Note: This private Hopkins family plot is located about a quarter of a mile from the outskirts of Glen Cove, on Cedar Swamp Road, on the summit of a hill in a residential section known as High Farms. This land was part of the original Hopkins Farm.
