A veteran of the North Carolina Milita in the American Revolution, Christmas is buried here with his wife, Mary Roberson, his son, Nathaniel G. Christmas and other descendants.
Living then in Greene County GA., he drew a land lot nearby in Harris County in the Land Lottery of 1827. He aquired property and moved here before 1835. His home was to the Northeast of County Line Road.

In memory of Richard Christmas, a Revolutionary Soldier. For 39 years, a consistent member of the Baptist Church, he died as he had lived, an honest man in the full hope of eternal life on the 13th of September 1848 in the 86th year of his age.
