The following statement was obtained by a granddaughter, Julia Brewer Bounds, from the War Department, Washington, D.C. on December 11, 1925:

"The records of this office show that Willis Brewer served in the War of 1812 as a private in Captain John Myrick's Company of Infantry 2nd Regiment Georgia Militia. His service commenced August 1813 and ended March 11, 1814." --Robert L. Davis, Adjutant General.

Willis Hamlin Brewer, son of William Brewer. married Mary Walpole.
