CLARISSA ANN RICHARDSON RICHARDSON CROCKETT FOSTER
Clarissa Richardson was born December 18, 1829 in Mississippi. She died June 5, 1922 in Atwell, Callahan County, Texas. She herself was quite a pioneer woman.
She was married three times. She married (1) Robert Richardson , her second cousin, about 1845 in Jasper County, Texas. Robert died during an epidemic around 1849 that claimed the lives of his father, Benjamin II and brother, Ketcham. Robert and Clarissa had children General Lafayette and Allen Franklin Richardson. She married (2) Andrew David Crockett on August 7, 1851 in Jasper County, Texas, the son of Patsy Durdino aka Martha Durdin and Eli Crockett, Martha Crockett being a Charter Member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church established in 1841 in Buna, Jasper County, Texas. They had 7 children Leonard Louis, David, Martha, Sarah Jane Dryden, James, William and Andrew Jackson. Coporal Andrew David Crockett the father died of disease in West Liberty TX on 16 Mar 1865 as he was returning from service following the Civil War he had served all 4 years in the Civil War and was a Texas State Troop as well. Then on November 22, 1866, Clarissa married (3) Nov 22, 1866 Jasper Co TX to Wiley Wood Foster, born December 31, 1844 in Jasper County, who was 16 years younger than Clarissa.
Wiley also was a Civil War Veteran signing on at the age of 16. They had 5 additional children Emmitt Wyle, Ambrose G, John Clayborn and Isaac "Ike" Foster and one dying at birth. Wiley was a brother of Barbara Allen Foster and Nancy G. Foster, the wives of Clarissa's sons, Lafayette and Allen Richardson.


The Fosters were also pioneers who came to Texas in the 1820's as part of Stephen F. Austin' s Old 300, and Wiley's grandfather John Foster received a land grant of 3 Leagues and 3 Labors of Land in Fort Bend County, Texas (approximately 15,000 acres).
John left TX in his old age and went back to Woodville, Wilkinson Co MS where he died 26 Jan 1837.
John's wife related to us was Mary Elizabeth Smith Kelsey the dau of Zachariah Smith and Frances Prestwood from Anson Co NC
Foster High School in Richmond TX is named for 2 of his sons.

Clarissa was the dau of James and Mary Morris Richardson who came to Jasper Co TX from Simpson Co MS
(the both are buried in Antioch Cem in Buna Jasper co TX)

Two Pioneer Citizens of Atwell Pass to Reward

Atwell, Texas, June 11, 1922
On the 5th, inst. we deposited the body of Grandma Foster, wife of Uncle Wily Foster and mother of Rev. John & A. M. Foster, in the Atwell cemetery amidst a large concourse of people. Sister Foster was 92 years old. Rev. McWilliams conducted the funeral services.

Clarissa is buried in Atwell Cem listed on her tombstone as Mrs. W W Foster

Clarissa was my 3rd grandmother
her 3rd husband was my 3rd Grand Uncle and when he married Clarissa he also became my step 3rd grandfather
