LTC Robert Henry Carter Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Morganton, NC.

LTC Robert Henry Carter Jr was a member of the Army, LTC Carter served our country until May 27th, 1969 in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. He was 35 years old and was married. It was reported that Robert died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. LTC Carter is on panel 24W, line 115 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 12 years.

He was a High School Senior, I was in 6th grade. I looked up to him as a fine mentor. I last saw him early '67 on my way over. If you served with Robert H Carter Jr. Please Contact me. Gary Preslar.

He was the Husband of Mrs Norma J Carter, 125 Pine Street, Morganton, NC.

He served with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, USARV.

A Soldier's Soldier. Amongst his many awards and Decorations; He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), Three Silver Star Medals, The Legion of Merit, The Bronze Star Medal, Two Purple Hearts for his combat wounds, Two Army Commendation Medals, Three Army Achivement Medals, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and the the Good Conduct Medal.
