Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 2nd New Jersey Cavalry on August 10, 1863, and was mustered in as a Sergeant in Company C on September 9, 1863. Captured by Confederate forces, he died of diarrhea at Andersonville Prison in Georgia on August 27, 1864.

On March 31, 1873, Elizabeth Flood filed a US Army Dependent Pension under his name (Application #208647, Certificate #163051).
