Virgil D. Ross, 62, of 630 Freeport Road, Freeport, died yesterday, Nov. 20, 1989, at 4:45 p.m. of respiratory failure in Butler Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Tarentum.
Mr. Ross was a 1945 graduate of Har-Brack Union High School and served with the Navy for 24 years, retiring in 1969 as a Master Chief Communications Technician (CTCM).
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren; three brothers, and six sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Alvin and Ella Carney Ross; one sister and two brothers.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Richard L. Redmond Funeral Home, Sixth and High Streets, Freeport, where services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. by Rev. Lawrence Lyman, pastor of Freeport United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Harrison.
