Edgar and his twin sister Edith were the 5th and 6th of 7 children of John Manchester and Anna Eliza Burgess Fisk (Fiske). Birth date for Edith and Edgar, 3 Sep 1848, is from Fiske family bible and matches the date in "Fisk and Fiske Family" by Frederick Pierce.

Edgar moved from Booneville as a young man, engaging in surveying in Minnesota and Montana. He came to Montana in 1879, but went back to Waseca, MN. He married MN native Marie Knudson, 1 Jun 1880, before moving to North Dakota and finally settling in Helena in 1888.

Mr. Fiske was a leading contractor and builder in Helena for many years, entering the contracting business with his brother, E.W. Fiske, who died in 1920. They built most of the residences in Lennox Addition, the Toole mansion on Ewing Street, and many of the buildings at the state fair grounds.

Surviving was his widow, Marie Knudsen; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Florence) Gebauer and Mrs. Leslie (LaNita) Rogers; and two granddaughters.

"Fiske Funeral Held - Last rites for Edgar L. Fiske, pioneer contractor and builder of Helena, who passed away suddenly Friday morning, were held at Opp & Conrad's chapel yesterday at 2 o'clock. There was a large number of friends of the family present, and many flowers were sent. Representatives of the Odd Fellows lodges of the city attended. Interment was in the I.O.O.F cemetery."
