Bynum, 67, a four-year resident of T-or-C passed away at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque on Tuesday, Oct. 27,1998. He was born in Borger, TX to Thomas Bynum and Viola Perdue Bynum on Jan. 12, 1931. JC was the ninth child of a family of 13 children. He had four brothers and eight sisters. JC served in the US Navy from April 1948 to Jan. 1956. He participated in the atomic test at Eniwetok, Marshall Islands in the winter of 1954. After leaving the Navy, he worked for Hi-Shear Co. of California for 32 years, retiring in 1993. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy Bynum; one son, Jeffery Bynum of California; one daughter, Regina De Leon and her husband, Miguel of California and one grandson, Christopher. Also surviving are two brothers, J.D. and Donald; five sisters, Arline, Jessie, Kay, Betty Lue, Frances and Anna Ruth. His body has been cremated and a "celebration of life" wake was held on Sat., Oct. 31 at the family home.
