Howard is the second youngest to Marion. Hazel would put him in a buggy under a tree. Hank was fond of standing on him. Howard and Marion both moved to California. Howard was a professional house painter and is presently enjoying his retirement. We've really never known how old he is since he only has a birthday every four years! - (Interview with his sister Hazel, October 1994)

January 2001, Howard and Alva moved from their home in California, where they had lived for many years, to Wisconsin to be close to Alva's family.

Howard and Alva lived in the comforts of their own home until mid 2003, when their health required them to need help. They lived at Comforts of Home, St Croix Falls, WI. Howard suffered a heart attack on Jan 9, and passed away January 12, 2004 at the St. Croix Falls Medical Center.
