Roger L Engel 17, of Montpelier, died Tuesday afternoon June 1, 2004 at Parkview Hospital Fort Wayne, Ind, due to injuries incurred in an auto accident earlier in the afternoon near Montpelier. Born March 4, 1987 at Kissimmee, Fla., to Melody Engel and Michael D Daley, he had been a Montpelier resident since 1991. He had recently completed his sophmore year at Montpelier High School was a member of The House of Prayer in Montpelier. Surviving are his mother Melody Engel (and fiance Joe Graza) of Montpelier; his father Michael D Daley of Belmond, Iowa; a sister Mrs. Dave (Crystal) Birdsall of Montpelier; maternal grandparents; Roger and Joyce Engel of Montpelier; maternal great-grandmother Velva Oyer of Osseo Migh; and a close friend and loving Patrick Foulk of Montpelier; Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in The House of Prayer in Montpelier with Pastor Don Harris to officiate. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Memorials may be made to Melody Engel.

Brent Morgan and Roger Engel had been best friends since pre-school. They were together and in the same accident Roger sadley passed that day June 1, 2004. Brent sadley passed father day June 20, 2004. I don't think they could have survived without each other. It just wasn't Roger without Brent and it just wasn't Brent without his bud Roger. They were closer than most brother's.
