J. Will Cowan, 68 years old, died at his home 615 south Jefferson avenue, at 5:45 o'clock Sunday morning, following an illness of 30 days. He was a member of the Elks' lodge and president of the board of trustees of the Calvary Presbyterian church at the time of his death.
Mr. Cowan was born in Frankfort, Ind., October 6, 1853. His youth was spent in Frankfort and Crawfordsville, Ind. He came to Springfield in 1881 and lived with his father on their farm on South Campbell street road for eight years. Later he was with the Stewart Music company.
He was the son of the late Judge John M. Cowan, and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laura Blaine, 615 South Jefferson avenue, and two brothers, James Cowan, 615 South Jefferson avenue, and Dr. E. Howard Cowan of Crawfordsville.
Funeral services will be at Calvary Presbyterian church at 10 o'clock this morning. The body will be sent to Crawfordsville, Ind., by Paxson-Pippin Undertaking company today for burial.
