Mrs. John Clemens
Ruth Loraine, daughter of Lay-
man M. and Celeste E. Burgher,
was born in Schuyler Co., Mo.,
near Coatesville, May 31, 1914. She
here grew to young womanhood and
during these years received her
education in the public school.
Approximately seven-years ago
she came to Centerville where she
received employment. Last fall,
October 6, 1940, she united in
marriage to John Clemens of this
city. they made their home at 518
Haynes Ave. The young bride con-
tinued to work at the Stevens Drug
store, but recently complained of
severe headaches. On Saturday,
March 22, she entered the St. Jos-
eph's hospital and in a little less
than a week's time passed away.
the date of death was Friday
morning, March 28, 1941, at 4:50.
At the time of her going she was 25
years, 9 months and 29 days.
In death she is survived by her
companion, John Clemens, her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Burgher,
five sisters, Mary of Coatesville,
Mrs. Ralph Hargrove of Livonia,
Mo., Kathryn, Patsy and Iris all at
home at Coatesville; three broth-
ers, Claud of 621 W. Washington
St., Centerville, John of Rockford
and Henry at home, also her
grandmother, Mrs. Mary I. Weldon,
of Coatesville.
On the second day of May, 1937,
she was baptized into the member-
ship of the First Baptist church of
Centerville, remaining a member
of this body until death. Her sud-
den going came as a great surprise
friends.
Funeral services were held Sun-
day, March 30th, at the First Bap-
tist church, conducted by Rev.
Luther W. Childs. Interment in
the Numa cemetery.
Pall bearers were William Ogle,
Harold nelson, Hubert Strandberg,
Boyd Sumpter, Tommy Harris and
Russell Wilson.
