This info on Walton Austin courtesy of Mike Weeks-
Austin died in Brevard County Florida, as a result of an aircraft accident. He was a combat veteran of the early fighting of WWII in the South Pacific. He was no doubt an instructor when he died ,as he was based out of NAS in Jackonsonville at the time of his death.
His nickname was "Red".
