GALESBURG - June L. Dumse Theobald, 55, Galesburg, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at home.
She was born Oct. 4, 1956, in St. Paul, Minn., to Harold F. and Mae (Mickie) E. Schell Dumse.
She had three brothers, Larry Dumse, Mike Dumse and Jim Dumse; two sisters, Sherry Bain and Sherry Mear; as well as many aunts and uncles who were very special to her along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
She lived in St. Paul and then moved to Galesburg, where she attended Churchill Junior High School and Galesburg High School. She received her cosmetology degree from Carl Sandburg College.
She worked at Salon Supreme for many years and then briefly at Best Little Hairhouse. She fulfilled her dream of having her shop in her home at 630 N. Cedar St. in Galesburg, where she had many friends and loyal customers who loved her for her talent and friendship. She married Terry Clewell and together they had her only child, Terah Lyn Clewell, who was her pride and joy along with being her very best friend in her adult life.
She married Frank Theobald on Dec. 23, 2006, in Galesburg and was a faithful, loving wife and mother until her death May 7, 2012.
Junie was the salt of the earth with a kindred spirit and a heart of gold with many, many friends who loved her dearly.
She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1997 and stayed strong in her faith in God until He took her home.
She ran in the Bix for many years, participated in Relay for Life and was a member of Blues Fest and First Lutheran Church. Her strength and goodness will never be forgotten by all who loved her. The appreciation for the simplest things in life humbled anyone who knew her heart. She was life-loving and grateful for the time she was given everyday by believing in the Lord and angels, never wondering "Why me?" May the beauty and goodness of her soul carry on in others as she climbs "the stairway to heaven."
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today, May 10, 2012, at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Al Beck will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home.
