Warren W. McDaniel
1935 - 2013
Warren McDaniel was born on July 2, 1935, and passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on March 11, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lana, three children and their spouses, five grandchildren, and three siblings. Warren enjoyed a long career in the Air Force, joining at the age of 19 and retiring from active service in 1977. He went back to work for the Air Force as a civil servant in 1978, where he stayed until he retired in 1998. He was a three-tour Vietnam Veteran, fiercely proud of his country, and flew the American flag at his home every day for the last decade.
His service with the Air Force took him to numerous locations around the country and overseas, and as a result his favorite thing during his retirement years was staying at home and spending time with his dogs and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He loved to walk his granddaughter, Avery, to school, and enjoyed spending Wednesdays with her sister, Olivia. He watched the same episodes of Tom & Jerry with them again and again, and seemed to enjoy it as much as they did. He was never more content than when he was sitting in his recliner with his dog at his feet and a grandchild nestled in his arms. He was unfailingly friendly with the people that he met, and always had a wave and a smile for his neighbors as he walked his dogs. He was a great husband, father, grandpa and friend, and the "Old Fart" will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, ID 83714-9521 on Thursday, March 28 at 1:00p.m.
