Willam Nichols (middle name possibly Nelson) parents are Benjamin Harvey (1784-1860) and Sarah "Sally" Dinsmore (1798-1869) King. The parents of Benjamin Harvey King are William (1722-November 5,1840) and Elizabeth Sharp King (died December 20, 1829), also buried in Green Spring Cemetery, Washington County, Virginia.

William married Sarah Melissa McConnell on February 17, 1842.

William N King and family came to Dade County, Missouri from Sullivan County, Tennessee in 1850 and bought 320 acres of land in Morgan Township. He was an industrious man and sussessful farmer, as well as stock raiser. In 1870 he was proud to build a modern farm home, replacing the former log cabin. He was a Democrat, member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and justice of the peace for Morgan Township many years.
