Funeral services for Allyn Downen of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Southern Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Downen died Tuesday at his home. He was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Lone Wolf.

Funeral services for Allyn Downen of El Reno were held Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Southern Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Don Duncan officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Downen died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, in his home. He was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Lone Wolf. He married Alene M. Bleigh on April 20, 1952, in Oklahoma City. He grew up in Lone Wolf and was a graduate of Lone Wolf High School. Mr. Downen served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He later moved to Indiana and then returned to El Reno. Allyn was retired from the El Reno Federal Correctional Institution.

He was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of NARFE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob M. and Myrtle E. (Beerman) Downen; sisters, Mildred Grabeal, Bonnie Garnett and Nina Ruth Barton; and brothers, Clifford Downen and Louis Downen.

Survivors include his wife, Alene (Bleigh) Downen of the home; sons, Allyn Downen Jr. and wife, Shirley of Yukon and Danny Downen and wife, Marietta of Oklahoma City; brother, Harold Downen and wife, Zoye of Howard, Colo.; sisters, Dorothy Zills of Boonville, Ind., and Ida Mae Drury of Olustee; grandchildren, Drew Downen of Boise, Idaho, Lauren Downen of Yukon and Elizabeth Ashley Pelter and husband, Michael of Fort Worth; and numerous other relatives and friends.
