Elected 1st Lt. in Inf. bn, Smiths Legion Ga Volunteers, May 12, 1862. Captain May 21, 1862. Transferred to Co. K 65th Ga Inf., March 1863. Died at Loudon, Tn. Hospital Mar 26, 1863.

NOTE: The Heritage Book of Habersham states that the first building and two
acres of land were donated by Thomas Jefferson Grant for the B.C. Grant Baptist
Church in memory of his son, Captain B.C. Grant, whose body was the first to be
buried in the church cemetery. The church was constituted in 1894.

Benjamin C. Grant served in the Confederacy and died of a war-related illness.
He was the son of Thomas Jefferson Grant and Mary Ann Robertson.
