Perry Lester Hansen passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines after a courageous struggle with cancer.

Perry was born in Des Moines on December 7, 1945 to Karl and Anna Hansen of Dallas Center. He married Donna Smith on April 2, 1975. Perry lived in Dallas Center all of his life except for his four year tour in the Navy, two years in Clear Lake and two years in Plano, Texas. After serving in the Navy, Perry worked for the Iowa Highway Patrol and has worked for the DCI where he made many fantastic friends. He previously was involved in Boy Scouts and the Dallas Center American Legion. He was also a very active member of the Des Moines Modelaires, a remote control airplane club where he made many good friends and had hours of enjoyment. He also enjoyed the company of his three cats at home. Perry always looked forward to the Iowa State Fair. He would spend several hours watching the horses and listening to music at Pioneer Hall.

Perry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Donna; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Toni Hansen; and the light of his life granddaughter, Emily. Also surviving is his brother and sister-in-law Dale and Val Hansen of Corning, sister-in-law Carol Delaloye of Plano, TX and nieces and nephews.
