Last Rites Held Friday for Mrs. Hattie Hogle, 92, Lifetime Resident
Mrs. Hattie May Hogle, 92, a lifelong resident of the Sheldon community, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday at Iroquois hospital in Watseka where she had been a patient a few days. She had not been in good health for some time.
Born October 5, 1871 on a farm west of Sheldon, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Mary Trotter Gooding. Her marriage was 7, 1890, to Alpha W., Hogle.
He died July 17, 1936.
Mrs. Hogle was a member of the Sheldon Evangelical United Brethren Church for 81 years, and after it was disbanded last year became a member of of the Sheldon Methodist Chruch. She wa a member of the ladies Aid Society of the EUB church. Surviving are three sons, Claude of Remington, Ind., and Sam and Carl, both of Sheldon; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Lena) Anderson of Sheldon, and Mrs. Leonard (Edna) Danielson of Springfield, MO; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hogle was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, and a daughter, Mary, in addition to her parents.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sheldon Methodist Church. The Rev. A.J. Smith of Decatur, a former pastor of the EUB Church, now retired, and the Rev. Fred W. Norman, minister of the Sheldon Methodist Church, officiated at the last rites, and interment was made in Sheldon Cemetery.
Arrangements were under supervision of the Towers Funeral Home.
