GIBSONVILLE, NC — Carl Cecil Barber, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home.
A native of Guilford County, Carl was born January 19, 1935 to the late Harmon Cecil and Clarice Williams Barber and was married for 30 years to Peggy Walker Barber who survives.
Carl retired from AC Corporation where he was employed for 35 years.
He served in the National Guard and was a member of Springwood Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter, Lisa Jo Shelton (Barry) of Gibsonville; sons, Carlton Eric Barber (Brenda) of Whitsett, Gary Darnell Barber of Whitsett and Christopher Todd Barber of Whitsett; stepdaughters, Robin Elizabeth Gerner of McLeansville, and Susie Marie Simpson (Tommy) of Greensboro; a stepson, Jack Lee Gerner of Gibsonville; a grandchild, MaKayla Barber; step grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Allison and Ashley; two step great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Ava; brothers, Clifton Lee Barber (Dora) of King, NC and Harold D. Barber of Greensboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don and Robert Barber; sisters, Emogene and Rosa Jo Barber; twin granddaughters, Rebecca Lynn Shelton and Mary Clarice Shelton; sister-in-law, Cindy and the mother of his children, JoAnn Sutton.
A funeral service was held 3 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Springwood Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dale Walker with the burial following in the church cemetery.
