He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran; a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees; and was a member of the Hardin County Agriculture Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mayme; three daughters, Charlotte (Bobby) Crawley, Shirley (Rev. John) Glover and Barbara (Jerry) Bransford; four grandchildren, Yulanda (John) Harris, Kimberly (Keith) Mansfield, Moneque (Jason) Black and Jamie Bransford; five great-grandchildren and a step great-granddaughter; special loved ones, Marshall Wilson, Michael Best, Jerome Brown, Vivian Thompson and David Wells.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church. Burial follows in Sonora Cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday at Percell & Sons Funeral Home.
