Mary Ann was the daughter of Fountain & Susan Montgomery Huffman. She married James W. Anderson, the son of James W. & Lorinda Murphy Anderson, on May 14, 1874 in Garrard County. The couple were the parents of Alice, Maggie, Lorinda, Susan, William Fountain, Sallie Belle and John Woods Anderson. Mrs. Anderson passed away from the effects of hypostatic pneumonia, complicated by myocarditis and cardiac asthma.

Her husband's obituary:

After an illness of about two months Mr. J W Anderson, the clever blacksmith at Hubble, was called to his reward, Friday. He had been in declining health for some time, but did not realize until recent weeks that the end was so near. He was burried [sic buried] at the Fork church, near his old home. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Christian church and was a good kind hearted gentleman. Our sympathy goes out to the broken home circle in which he is so greatly missed.
