Monsignor Karel Pilík was born in Prague and was ordained to the priesthood in 1945. He served as a chaplain across Prague for a lifetime, in the parishes of Dolní Belé u Plzne, Ostrave and Príbrami.

He also served as spiritual director of the Archdiocesan Seminary of Prague and was named canon of the Chapter of Všech by Cardinal František Tomášek in 1990, with whom Pilík worked closely and served as personal advisor.

Pilík was named Prelate of His Holiness with the Title of Monsignor in 2002, and received the High National Medal from the President of the Czech Republic that same year, as an appreciation to his contributions as a priest.
