Clarence Newton "C.N." Branch (1916 - 2011)

Clarence Newton "C.N." Branch, the last of eight children, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011. Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Newberry Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1301 Newberry Road, Millsap. Interment: Newberry Cemetery.

Clarence was born at home March 26, 1916, in Palestine to Elizabeth Jewel and George Newton Branch. Seven brothers and sisters preceded Clarence in passing. He enjoyed good health for all but a few days of his 95 years. His working life included military, welding in the shipyards of Oregon and 35 years as a pumper in oil fields of Texas. In his younger years, he loved hunting and fishing. He trained some of the best bird dogs in West Texas. Clarence blessed many friends with a great smile and great sense of humor, never failing to offer a cup of coffee or glass of tea to everyone. Due to his love of flowers, his yard and wildlife, Clarence began each morning with a cup of coffee and a stroll over the yard to decide the project of the day. He touched many lives and was loved by all who knew him.

Survivors: Daughters, Jennean Smith and husband, Dave, and Jeweldean Green and husband, Joe; sons, Rolland Branch and wife, Claudell, and Kelly Branch and his daughter, Penelope Branch; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
