Oline Gjermunsdatter Lien
The Daughter of, Gjermund Pedersen Lien and Anna Plassen Lien.
Wife of Frank Flanders
Mother of, Opal Audrey Flanders Hewit
Grandmother of, Beverley Hill.
After the death of her Mother in Norway, Oline immigrated to America in her teens with her Father, Brother Georg and Sister Marie. They settled in Minnesota where she met her future Husband Frank.
Grandma Ollie had the most amazing soprano voice and could have made a living singing had she not been a shy little lady (4 ft. 8 in.) who spoke no English and had no idea how talented she was. Instead, she scrubbed floors in hotels, all the while singing wonderful songs from Norway.
Frank & Oline were lured to the frontiers of Sask. with the promise of land to homestead. Life was hard but they worked hard and prospered. A Daughter, Velma was born early in thier marriage and died in infancy. In 1916 a Daughter Opal was born. In the 1940's they decided to give up farming and moved to Vancouver, B.C. From there they moved to Seattle Washington where Oline became a proud American Citizen.
After a long and couragous battle with cancer she died as she had lived, with quiet dignity.
