Words of fellow officiers

What a wonderful police officer, supervisor, person. Sgt Venable was on eof the first people I worked for when I started with PAPD. He taught me to be a firm but fair police officer. We spent many a night talking while working in the service division. I'll never forget some of the stories. My condolences to his family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I enjoyed working with Sgt. Venable. I was the code 4 and I remember one night while I was diligently working very, very hard..... he was shredding documents. Well... he kept taking bags and bags of shredded paper to what I thought was the dumpster! It ended up being that he took them to my car! He had secretly gotten the keys off my desk. The next morning I went to the car and was SHOCKED that I could not get in my vehicle because of all the shredded paper! I wondered why he was hanging around a little later than he was supposed to get off work! He also would hide in a dark hall when I came to work and jump out to scare me. I worked graveyards! I will never forget Sgt. Venable. He was such a fine man. He always had a smile on his face and he was always up to some mischief! He will forever be in my heart, and in some of the best memories I've ever had at PAPD. I know you will all miss him very much. Hold onto the memories that you share, and he will never be further than your own heart. Rest in peace, Sgt. Venable.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. My deepest sympathy and prayers goes out to the Venable family. I worked with and for Sgt. Venable in the 80s and there was no better man. He always treated everyone with dignity and respect. When I think of Roosevelt, I remember a kind man with a calming smile who taught me plenty about people, police work, and Cajun folks. I also remember a man who the legend says never lost an arm wrestling match. May you rest in peace Sgt. Venable.
