J.A. "Art" Nussbaum, Jr., 85, Kansas City, MO, passed away February 28, 2011.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7500 Oak St., Kansas City, MO 64114.

Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.

Mr. Nussbaum was born April 9, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO, son of J. Arthur and Opal (Karol) Nussbaum.

He was an insurance broker who worked until his passing. He attended KU, a member of Phi Delta Theta, and avid Jayhawks fan.

He was a Navy veteran, active in World War II.

Mr. Nussbaum was a proud member of the Lions Club International and devoted countless hours of service.

He was a member of the Kansas City Host Lions Club for many years served as its President.

In addition, he was Past District Governor of Lions District 26 G in 1978-1979 and served in many district capacities.

He served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation in Columbia, MO, and is an Honorary Board Member.

Mr. Nussbaum was also active in his church, serving as President of the congregation, Chairman of the Board of Elders, Head Usher, The Constitutional Review Committee and many other committees.

Mr. Nussbaum is survived by his daughter Anita Nussbaum and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara.
