J. L. Baker, 97, passed away in the early morning hours of January 3, 2015, J. . was a resident of Liberty Hill, Texas for his entire life. Born to parents, W.O. Baker and Minnie (Smith) Baker in Williamson County, Texas on October 22, 1917, J L became the best rancher and farmer around.

J. L. married his sweetheart, Nina Jewell Mather, on September 21, 1937 in Georgetown. Nina preceded J. L. in death in 2006.

J. L. and Nina have two lovely daughters: Mary Baker and Norma Baker Fleet of Liberty Hill, Texas. He is survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren.

A lover of fishing, hunting and trapping, J. L. was a great all-around outdoors man. He ran cows on the ranch. As a hardworking rancher, his lawn mower and pickup truck were constantly on his mind. He loved playing Dominoes with his best of friends.

A time of visitation for Mr. Baker will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633. Burial will follow the service at Mather Cemetery.
