Watsonville Register-Pajaronian--April 24, 1931 page 1--Mrs. Rippy Dies; Last rites Monday
Mrs. Charlsy Ann Rippy, aged 70 years, died early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Dufur, 440 Second Street, after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held Monday from the chapel of the Aston & Neal funeral home at 2 o'clock p.m. The burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mrs. Rippy had lived in California for the last six years. She was an active member of the Latter Day Saints church and had many friends who will mourn her loss. Deceased is survived by her husband, Jacob Rippy; by four daughters, Mrs. George Speelman and Mrs. William Dufur of this city and Mrs. Harry Speelman and Mrs. Henry Gribble of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; by three sons, John Rippy, Corralitos and James and Beuford Rippy of Freedom. Thirty-four grand children and five great grand children also are left to mourn her passing. Deceased was born in North Carolina on May 1, 1861, and was married to Jacob C. Rippy on Feb 14, 1881. In 1899 the family removed to Pagosa Springs, where they made their home until 1925, when Mr. and Mrs. Rippy moved to Watsonville, California. They were the parents of ten children, three of whom passed away in infancy. Funera services were held April 27the and were largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends. The services were conducted at the Aston & Neal funeral home, by Elder Schow assisted by Elder Low and Elder Twee. A quartet from the Latter Day Saints Church gave two numbers. Mary Lockhead and Lela Eneas sang a duet and D. Christiansen sang a solo.
