Daughter of Mary Elizabeth Brown Higdon and Lester Zachary Higdon Sr. She was a native of Daviess County, KY. She married and had 6 children. She worked mainly in the medical field, her last position being with Dr. Ronald Moyer, of Louisville KY.

She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin R. Mitchell Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Rhodes; brother, Lester Zachary Higdon Jr.; and sisters, Martha Dale Jones and Margie Hermann.

Survivors: sons, Franklin R.Mitchell Jr. (Peggy), Terry Wayne Mitchell (Denise) and Christopher Wayne Mitchell; daughters, Donna Lee Davis and Florence Rebecca Mattingly (Dave); brother, Albert Higdon (Gloria); 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

I had the blessing and privilege of being her oldest grandchild. Grandma loved to read. She fostered a love of reading in me that I have tried to pass on to my children. She loved her family and loved to spend time with them. She loved cards and letters, sending as well as receiving them.

She was more than a grandmother to me ~ she was my friend.
I miss her.

OXOXOXO ~ Grandma
