The mediocre teacher tells,

The superior teacher demonstrates,

She was a GREAT teacher!

A letter written to the class of 1965

Dear Friends,

Soon our relationship as teacher-pupil will
Be past but I hope the actual memories
will remain. There is no other relationship
similar to that which we have enjoyed, some of
us for several years. I hope that something good
has resulted from our being together.

I have given all the instructions that I
shall ever give you, Graded the last papers that
I shall grade for you, and told the last boring
story to which you had to listen. I have given
much advice, but that which I give below in the
form of quotes, I hope you will remember and use.
since I am not a writer, I have to borrow from
the masters many times.

Remember that you are a human being with
a soul and the divine gift of articulate speech-
that your native language is the language of
Shakespeare, Wilson, and the BIBLE.

Finally, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things
are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report: if there be any virtue and if there be
any praise, think on these things, Paul of Tarsus

This scripture has helped me many times;

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
From whence cometh my help,
My help cometh from the Lord, which made
Heaven and earth,
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved;
He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
The Lord is thy keeper;
The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand."
The sun shall not smite thee by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil;
He shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and
Thy coming in
From this time froth, and even forevermore."
Psalm 121

Since I am going to my daughter's college
graduation, I will not be at your graduation.
the next place to her graduation that I would
rather be would be at yours. I want to wish
for each one of you success in whatever you
undertake and happiness through the years.
When troubles com, remember that "come
what come, may time and the hour runs through
the roughest day." When you are tempted to
be selfish or to yield to evil temptations,
think about Eustacia and Macbeth, and know
that real happiness does not come this way.

Be always kind and true and give to
The world "the best you have" so that the
"best will come back to you"

Congratulations and best wishes. Let, me
Share you experiences during the years to
Come. I shall always be interested in you and
In whatever you do. Your contribution to the
World will be a bit of mine.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Kennedy
