John Fredrick "Freddy" Fry, 49, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Asheville, N.C. Hospice Center. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., he graduated from E. Lee High School, Jacksonville and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam.
In 1972 he graduated from Western Carolina University with a B.S. in Education. He worked with Division of Youth Services, H.R.S. of Jacksonville, Palatka, and Green Cove Springs, Florida. In 1993 he graduated again from Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, N.C. with a M.S. in Human Resources, where he was now on staff as an academic advisor and a faculty advisor to Kappa Alpha Order.
He was a member of Phi Gamma Mu National Honor Society in Social Sciences, a member of the Episcopal Church, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his mother, Peggy Zurberg Fry of Asheville, N.C. and father, John H. Fry Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Christopher H. Fry and a sister, Jane F. Norris both of Jacksonville. An uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick W. Zurberg of Asheville.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
