Butch grew up in Amarillo, TX, and attended Palo Duro High School. He worked in feedlots and livestock auctions, the 6666 Ranch at Guthrie, TX. Butch married and divorced but never had children. Military service - 1968 U.S. Army, Fort Ord, CA and discharged in 1971 at Fort Sill, Ok.
Obituary - Walter "Butch" Sherill Morris, 60, of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010. Walter "Butch" Morris was born on June 27, 1950, to Gene Morris and Beulah Edwards in Matador. He was a member of the Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. Butch spent most of his life as a cowboy and more recently a carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, and his favorite place to fish was Fort Cobb, Okla. He was a horse trainer and spent his time breaking horses. Butch had a generous and loving demeanor. He had lived in Oklahoma City for several years but had moved to Amarillo to be with his family. He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Graves and husband Johnny of Amarillo, Zela Young and husband Manuel of Sunray and Delma Collingsworth and husband Mike of Ty; a stepfather, Jim Chambers of Amarillo; special friends, Rebecca, Cathy, Matt, David and Carol; and many nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Sherman Eastland, Chaplain Odyssey Healthcare will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Butch spent most of his life as a cowboy and more recently a carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and his favorite place to fish was Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. He was a horse trainer and spent his time breaking horses. Butch had a generous and loving demeanor. He had lived in Oklahoma City for several years but had moved to Amarillo to be with his family.
