He was born December 31, 1925, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Albert Criss and Mary Elizabeth Scott Criss.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Criss, whom he married on September 3, 1966.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Carol Annie; one stepson, Steven Showers; three grandchildren, Denise Caggiano and her husband, Nick, Lisa M. Annie of S. and Stefanie Dawn Showers Johnson Dowdel; five great-grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony and Isabella Caggiano, Blake Taylor-Johnson and Riley Dowdel; one sister, Bette Criss Cox and her husband, Stan and nieces and nephews, Bob Bartos, Cheryl Enslen and her husband, Nobby, Mickey Cox, Garry King and his wife, Tina, Jim King, Diane Morriston and Sandy Magdar.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Balland and two sisters, Madolyn King and Thelma Bartos.
Roy attended Victory High School and then served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Following his time in the Corps, he worked for several businesses in the area including Sanitary Bakery. He then worked for Consolidated Gas for 30 years until his retirement in 1987. He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed following WVU athletics often traveling to away games with his wife and family. He also followed all high schools sports

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Wednesday November 2, 2011, from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Alan Granofsky presiding. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport.
