Donald Forrest Cunningham was born in Austin, Minnesota on July 19, 1916 to Willmar and Agnes Patterson-Cunningham. He lived in Rochester, Minnesota most of his life.

During World War II he served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, stationed in the South Pacific including Guadalcanal.

Donald married Virginia Purvis on October 26, 1946 in Iowa. Don owned and operated Queen City Real Estate of Rochester. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; three son, James of Cannon Falls, Michael (Sue) of Chicago and Kim (Cindy) of Rochester, two daughters, Susan (Al) Pehler of Billings, Montana and Darcie (Gary) Taylor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley (Jean) of Lake Carrol, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

Funeral serivices will be held on Tuesday at Ranfranz Funeral Home Chapel in Rochester with the Rev. Jerald Barnhart officiating. Friends may call from 5 pm to 7 pm Monday and one hour before the service at Ranfranz Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, Minnesota.

The family prefers memorials to Rocheser Senior Center.
