Fred was one of forty volunteers from Aransas County to serve the Navy in World War I. He married Inez Campbell 9 Jun 1920, Fred inherited the Bracht merchandise stores in Rockport where he overlooked the management until his death. The business expanded into a lumber yard which continues in operation today and is managed by his two sons.
